SERVING NORTH TEXAS MARINES SINCE 2010
Sgt. Ryan Robinson passed away on September 1st, 2008 as a result of injuries received in combat from his 2006 Iraq deployment. He was only 29 years old. Ryan was a hero in Iraq, and at home; his loss devastated his family and friends.
Ryan loved the Marine Corps Ball and was deeply concerned about wounded Marines unable to attend due to their injuries. before his passing he said to his father, “Dad, wouldn’t it be great if there was an organization that could get these wounded Marines to the Ball? An all-expenses-paid night out of the hospital or their homes with fitted dress blues and a limousine. It would remind them they have not been forgotten, that their sacrifice is remembered.”
Ryan is gone, but in his memory, Ryan’s Project aims to fulfill Ryan’s vision by sponsoring and coordinating the attendance of wounded North Texas Marines annual Marine Corps Birthday Ball in Fort Worth/Dallas, Texas. Ryan’s Project also assists, when possible, in the funding necessary to train and place service dogs with disabled military service members through K-9′s for Freedom and Indepence.
As Ryan’s Project reaches out to active and veteran service members, collaborating with other veteran organizations in an effort to meet the needs of our wounded heroes. We hope to touch the lives of those wounded after sacrificing so much for their country.
The Ryan’s Project 30-second spot below was produced for the 2011 HP Byron Nelson Championship. Thank you to the extremely talented film-maker Nick Utter and performer Eric Boggs. Special thank you to Amber Sutphin and Tiffany McGlothlin.

Cotton Patch Café, Inc., is one of my favorite restaurants and this year they are a Platinum Sponsor. Started 25 years ago, two energetic guys, Larry Marshall and Mike Patranella, they worked long hours and created a restaurant like no other. The idea behind that first Cotton Patch Cafe in Nacogdoches was to create a community restaurant that offered great food made from scratch, served by caring folks who are part of your community. Besides the great food and service, Cotton Patch Cafe donates to hundreds of wonderful charities and causes every year. “We want to help make each community better,” Larry says. That recipe works. Today Cotton Patch has 41 locations in Texas, Oklahoma and New Mexico. And of course my personal favorite in Watauga, Texas on (377) Denton Highway under the management of Colby Baird. There contribution will send another 3 or 4 wounded or disabled Marines to the annual Marine Corps Ball. Thanks guys! You all are great!!
A 30-year Watauga resident and CP fan since day one, Doug loves the friendliness of the people at Cotton Patch. “It’s like Cheers, where everybody knows your name!” Doug also appreciates our connection with the community and excellent food. Our management team says “Doug enjoys the food so much that he is an advocate for us to anyone he meets. He has a lot of positive things to say, and everyone who knows him loves him!”
A wonderful letter from Jina and Curtis Fowler who were guests of Ryan’s Project at the 238th annual Marine Corps Ball last November, 2013. Very kind thoughts and words. Thank you for honoring Ryan’s memory.
